Chaldal Holdings began in 2014 as a vehicle for investing personal capital in Bangladesh’s emerging startup ecosystem. Its mandate has since evolved into a broader approach to investment and ownership.
Chaldal Holdings LLC was established as a vehicle for Sajid Islam to invest personal capital in early-stage businesses in Bangladesh.
An early investment was Chaldal.com, where Sajid served as lead angel investor and joined the board. The company later attracted international capital and participated in Y Combinator’s W15 batch.
Several other startup investments did not succeed. Experience across both successful and unsuccessful outcomes informed a more disciplined view of risk, timing, management, and capital allocation.
Chaldal Holdings now manages principal capital across public and private investments, real estate, and an increasing focus on long-term ownership of operating businesses.
Sajid is an entrepreneur, investor, operator, and systems thinker with approximately three decades of professional experience. His career spans enterprise technology, product management, systems architecture, federal infrastructure, entrepreneurship, and investing.
His experience includes work in HP, OpenText, Freddie Mac, and U.S. Department of Education environments. In Bangladesh, he organized Startup Weekend events, launched Shetu, helped deliver Global Entrepreneurship Week programming, built Hubdhaka, and became active in early-stage investing.
That technical and entrepreneurial background shapes a recurring approach: understand the system, identify what matters, simplify complexity, and allocate resources deliberately.
